Keeping an organic garden free from bugs, grubs, mosquitoes and ticks has just gotten easier and greener: Woodstream Corporation today released all-new Safer® Brand ready-to-spray insecticide concentrates.
Safer Brand Bug Patrol, Mosquito & Tick Killer and Grub Killer are all available in ready-to-spray concentrate formulations that connect to a garden hose for simple pest control. These insecticides provide quick, consistent coverage throughout a garden or yard, without the hand fatigue associated with spray bottles.
But even more important, Safer Brand insecticides are formulated with the organic gardener in mind. Most insecticide manufacturers add piperonyl butoxide (PBO), a toxic petroleum distillate, to their formulations to keep pyrethrins properly mixed. Safer Brand substitutes vegetable oil for PBO in its ready-to-spray formulations, all of which effectively kill common garden pests through the use of naturally derived pyrethrins--potent contact and internal insect poisons. As a result, the USDA’s National Organic Program allows the use of all three of the new Safer Brand ready-to-spray concentrates for organic gardening.
Safer Brand’s Bug Patrol contains naturally derived pyrethrins and good old-fashioned insecticidal soap. Bug Patrol kills over 40 kinds of bugs on contact, including beetles, aphids, ants, scale and mealybugs. One 32-ounce container treats 2,500 square feet of lawns, ornamentals, trees, shrubs, fruits and vegetables, and flowers. Bug Patrol has been independently reviewed by the Organic Materials Review Institute, deemed acceptable for organic gardening and given the OMRI Listed® designation.
The OMRI Listed ready-to-spray Safer Brand Mosquito & Tick Killer also treats 2,500 square feet with one 32-ounce container and is made with organic pyrethrins and insecticidal soap. Mosquito & Tick Killer kills on contact, ridding the yard of mosquitoes and ticks that can carry West Nile Virus and Lyme disease.
With a treatment range of 4,000 square feet from one 32-ounce container, Safer Br and Grub Killer is made from organic azadirachtin, a derivative of the neem tree that kills white grubs by disrupting their hormonal balance and repels adult beetles for up to 10 days after spraying. Though it is deadly to grubs--including the Japanese beetle wreaking havoc east of the Mississippi--Grub Killer is not harmful to most beneficial bugs. Safer Brand Grub Killer works best when applied in the spring when grubs are surfacing from over wintering underground, and again in the late summer and fall to kill new grubs produced by existing adult beetles.
What people are saying: Reviewer: Sandhana "Not having had much luck with other brands, I tried "Safer" brand on my beetle-infested yard. Bingo! They were dead and gone in a jiffy. Plus, "Safer" worked equally well on the white-fly and leaf-worm problems I faced in my garden. "Safer" will be a staple in my future bug-busting efforts. Thanks, I didn't have to deal with any offensive odor either!" (comment on Bug Patrol) |
