FertilizingFertilizing

Everyone wants healthy plants but they do not understand that healthy plants come from healthy soil! Feeding your soil with an organic lawn fertilizer, unlike synthetic ones, will help improve the soil, allowing the soil to better retain nutrients and moisture.

Organic fertilizer release nutrients in a controlled, time-released fashion. This provides a sustain feeding pattern and will ensure long term health for your lawn. Check with your local greenhouse to see when the best time is for fertilizing, mulching and planting both seeds and seedlings in your climate zone. Organic lawn fertilizer such as Concern® Weed Prevention Plus® and Ringer® Lawn Restore® will work to keep your soil healthy, which allows you to have a healthy lawn all season long!

How to Use Organic Fertilizer

Using an organic fertilizer like Ringer Lawn Restore can bring valueable nutrients back to your soil and provide you with a healthy lawn and garden for a sustainable amount of time. A question arises, how do I use organic fertilizer and when is the best time to use it??

One of the benefits of organic fertilizers is that you can use them at any point during the season. They will not burn your lawn and your children and pets are able to play on the lawn immediately after treatment. This is something that is not the case with synthetic fertilizers.

Directions for Use:

spreading fertilizer

Normal Lawns-

Apply in Spring, Summer, and Fall at a rate of 10lbs of fertilizer per 1000 sq. foot with a drop or rotary spreader (25lb bag covers 2,500 sq. ft, 40lb bag covers 5000 sq ft). Water immediately after application to activate product. Keep lawn moist, but not saturated for the next 3-4 days. For continued maintenance, water once or twice weekly to provide 1" of moisture (including rainfall). A typical sprinkler takes 3-4 hours to provide 1" of moisture.

Lawns with Excess Thatch or Problem Lawns-

1. Fertilization- a fertilizer that provides slow release nitrogen should be applied 2-4 times per season following recommended application rates.

2. Watering- Lawns should receive approximately one inch of water a week (including rainfall).

3. Mowing- Adopt the 1/3 rule, not more then 1/3 of the leaf should be removed in any one mowing. During times of stress (summer), keep grass longer then in spring and fall.

4. Aerating- Core aerating in Spring or Fall. Core aerating allows air into the soil and breaks apart compacted soil.

New Sod or Seed:

Ringer® Lawn Restore® is ideal in helping establish new root systems. Unlike some fertilizers, it won't burn tender, developing roots. Simply apply at a rate of 10lbs of fertilizer per 1000 sq ft. For new sod, work into topsoil before laying sod. For new seed, work into topsoil prior to seeding. Water to keep surface moist, but not saturated, until sod/seedlings are established.

Easy-to-use Directions for using a Drop Spreader:

1. Fill Spreader with Ringer® Lawn Restore® Fertilizer

2. Choose Settings

3. Apply and Water

What the Numbers Mean

The three numbers on the front of most fertilizer bags show the percentage by weights of a particular nutrient contained within the product. A higher number does not necessarily mean a better product. What is important is the type of nutrients provided and the ways in which they are released. Ringer Lawn Restore is specially formulated to provide the appropriate ratio of nutrients for a lush, thick, green, vital lawn.

10 Nitrogen- Promotes vigorous growth, gives grass a lush, green color.

2 Phosphate- Phosphorous source that stimulates root growth.

6 Potash- Potassium source that helps plants withstand heat, cold, and drought stresses.
