Description

Dr. T’s Nature Products®
Slug & Snail Killer - 1 lb

Frustrated gardeners and homeowners can now win the battle against slugs and snails in their gardens and landscaping.  These mollusks are a major agricultural pest in many areas of the world, and now, they have met their match!

Dr. T’s Nature Products® Slug & Snail Killer is a new, unique product for the control of destructive slugs and snails. Dr. T’s Nature Products® Slug & Snail Killer contains a bait that is attractive to slugs and snails.  In fact, independent field tests show garden snails and slugs prefer to eat the bait rather than live plants. Control for snails and slugs has never been easier!

The concentrated iron, sodium ferric EDTA, in Dr. T’s Nature Products® Slug & Snail Killer is also cost effective since less product is needed for snail and slug control than with iron phosphate-based baits.

When slugs and snails ingest this sodium ferric bait, it interferes with their digestive process and makes them stop eating immediately.  After retreating to a hiding place, this bait kills slugs and snails within 3-6 days, making this an easy-to-use slug and snail garden pest control product.

Unlike the synthetic product metaldehyde, Dr. T’s Nature Products® Slug & Snail Killer can be used around pets and wildlife. In addition, it will not harm beneficial insects, making this the best slug and snail control product for gardens.  Since iron is naturally found in soil, this snail and slug bait will not persist in the environment like a synthetic formula.

This 1 lb granular bait covers up to 1,700 square feet. Application of this slug and snail control product lasts up to 2 weeks.

Dr. T’s Nature Products® offers a variety of innovative solutions to control nuisance animals and insects.

All About Slugs and Snails...

Slugs

Facts

  • Slugs are in the Mollusks class of Gastropoda, which is the second largest class in the animal kingdom (the largest class is insects).
  • Slugs weigh about 300 milligrams – weight of 1 penny = 9 slugs!

Reproduction/Life Cycle

  • The life cycle of a slug consists of three stages: egg, immature adult and adult.
  • Eggs usually hatch in about three weeks, but slugs need moisture and the right soil conditions to survive so eggs can lay dormant for several years before hatching.

Diet

  • Slugs must live in moist environments in order to survive since they don’t retain moisture well. Besides drinking water, they can also soak up water through their skin.
  • Slugs munch on green flowering plants, flowers, strawberries, cabbage, lettuce and other vegetable plants.
  • A small slug can eat as much as it weighs and sometimes twice that amount in one night.

Habitat

  • As most gardeners know, slugs love gardens.
  • These nocturnal pests hide under rocks and in the earth.
  • They can also be found under ivy and similar low, ground-covering.

Snails

Facts

  • Snails belong to the Mollusk class. The brown garden snail causes much damage in gardens.
  • Like slugs, they must live in moist environments in order to survive. They may dig down several inches in mulch or soil to reach moisture and keep from drying up and dying.

Reproduction/Life Cycle

  • The life cycle of a snail consists of three stages: egg, immature adult and adult.
  • Snails are hermaphrodites; they can mate with any other snail.

Diet

  • Snails require a moist environment in order to survive since they cannot retain moisture well.
  • Besides drinking water, they can also soak up water through their skin.

Habitat

  • These nocturnal pests hide under rocks, in mulch, and in the earth.
  • They can also be found under ivy and similar low, ground-covering.
FAQs

Ask Dr. T...About Slug and Snails and Their Control

Q: The plants in our garden have holes in the leaves, but I never see anything eating them. Could it be slugs or snails?

A: It easily could be. Slugs and snails are nocturnal so you most likely won’t see them unless you want to get up during the night and go out to your garden with a flashlight.

Q: How can I tell if I have slugs and snails?

A: An indicator of a slug or snail infestation is the slimy, mucous trail left behind. It’s very shimmery when dried and can be seen on plants and on the ground.
