Instructions for the Gypsy Moth Trap

The Gypsy Moth

Your Gypsy Moth Trap assembles very easily. Below are the complete assembly instructions.

Remove BioLure sex lure from its protective package. NOTE: The lure has a thin clear covering on the side that faces down into the trap. DO NOT attempt to remove this membrane. The lure will become ineffective. Attach the lure to the inside of the Gypsy Moth Trap top by removing the paper backing from the adhesive tape on the back of the lure and placing the lure in the top. The best place to attach the lure is in the center of the inside of the Gypsy Moth Trap top.

Place the open end of the bag through the bottom of ring about 1" and fold the excess over the outside of the ring. Place the funnel small end pointing down into the ring. This should hold the bad secure.

Thread the ring, funnel, and bag assembly onto the bottom of the Gypsy Moth Trap.

How to Use

Gypsy Moth Traps should be hung in early spring. The moths are active from late April through August.

Choose a tree where air current can circulate the attractant freely. Hang the Gypsy Moth Trap 4-5 feet off the ground in a tree or on a suitable stand. The south side of the tree is best.

Check your Gypsy Moth Trap at least two times a week.

To empty your Gypsy Moth Trap: a) immerse the trap completely in soapy water for one or two minutes to kill any remaining moths, b) twist off ring, c) pull out funnel, and d) dump the moths in regular trash collection. Rinse out or replace bag and re-hang.

Recommended number of Gypsy Moth Traps is two traps per ten trees.

If Gypsy Moth Trap catch declines and it is not the end of the season, replace the lure. The lure is designed to last 6-8 weeks.
