Description

Safer® Brand Clothes Moth Alert Trap

Don't let moths dine on your best dinner jacket or your favorite dress!

Our clothes moth traps will alert you to moth problems and help to prevent moth damage.

The Safer® Brand Clothes Moth Alert Trap will lure adult moths using powerful pheromones and then trap them. Our clothes moth traps offer an economical and convenient pest control solution to moths damaging your furniture and clothing. Our clothes moth traps lasts up to 12 weeks as they trap adult moths. By trapping adult moths, you will break the breeding cycle in your home and deliver the moth control you need.

We recommend using our clothes moth traps to attract the clothes moth and then Safer® Brand Flying Insect Killer which kills the clothes moth and other flying insects on contact. This is the perfect 1-2 combination to eliminate the harmful effects of the clothes moth.

Directions for Use:

  1. Hang clothes moth traps at eye level in closet and rooms to be protected. Pay special attention to items containing wool, cashmere or other animal hair.
  2. Use one or two clothes moth traps for an average size room. Too many traps in one area may confuse the moth and make the trap appear to not work properly.
  3. Replace clothes moth traps after 12 weeks.

Safer® Brand leads the alternative lawn and garden products industry, offering many solutions that are compliant with organic gardening standards. Safer® Brand recognizes this growing demand by consumers and offers a wide variety of products for lawns, gardens, landscapes, flowers, houseplants, insects and more!

Pretty good By Pete

About 5 years ago, a couple in our 60 unit 120 year old brick and timber loft building bought a used rug, which proved to be the ground zero for a moth infestation. Since then we've been using Safer Moth Traps in each unit and in the halls. While the problem has not completely gone away, it seems to be keeping them down to a controllable level.

Disappointed By Quispy

I don't know if I am doing something wrong but I've had these up for over a month and haven't caught one single moth. In fact I have seen them fly right past the traps. Mind you I don't have many, but I do have them. I see one or two almost every night. It's aggravating because I purchased like 12 traps to get the free shipping. So far they have been a complete waste of money. Very disappointed because I have been dealing with these moths for years. This was my last hope.

Response From Safer Brand®
Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

We recommend placing the traps at eye level in the closets and rooms to be protected. For an average size room, we recommend one or two traps.

Excellent Product By Jack

Delighted to eliminate moths before damage. Silent and effective. And managed to eliminate some other bugs of which I was unaware were living in my apartment! Delivery and packaging were good.

Excellent! By Bugsy

I love the Safer moth traps! We purchase them every few months and they help control the moth problem at our house. My only complaint is that I wish they came in larger mutli-pak options than 16 so that they would be even more cost effective. Thank you for making a safe product for this issue.

Clothes moth traps By Loriu

Within a few hours there were a few moths in each of the traps I set out. I haven't seen any more moths flying around in a few weeks. Your price was great, delivery was fast and the product seems to be effective.

Really helpful product By katykw

My sister gave me one of these moth traps - I was surprised at how many moths it actually attracted, and it made me think that perhaps I have a bigger problem than I thought, so I purchased several more to put in other rooms of the house. We felt very comfortable with the product being safe around animals and children. Thank you for designing this!

Q&A
Q.Please list ingredients.
A.

This trap is made up of a pheromone lure and glue.

Q.Is this used for web moths or casing moths
A.

Yes, this trap is effective for both webbing and casemaking clothes moths.

Q.Are these safe around pets? Not that I expect my pets to get into them, but IF say my dog were to get a hold of one of these and chew it up or my cats got ahold of one and licked it, is there anyone on it that could make them sick/kill them?... aside from the adhesive
A.

Yes, there is no poison on these traps, just a lure to attract the moth so that it gets stuck to the glue.

All About Insects the Clothes Moth Trap Controls

The clothes moth is only destructive during the larval stage. Clothing, upholstery, curtains and other furnishings may be ruined by the holes created when the larvae feed. In fact, just about anything made of natural fibers is potentially susceptible to damage by clothes moth larvae.

Controls for Clothes Moths

What?

Moth pheromone traps often called Clothes Moth Traps can help in controlling clothes moths.

How?

Moth pheromone traps (clothes moth traps) can be used to alert you to moth problems and to monitor the level of infestation. Male meal moths are attracted to the pheromone and enter the trap where it is caught and cannot escape.

The trap should be placed in a clothes closet or area containing upholstery. Carefully read and follow all instructions completely for safe and effective use.

When?

At the first sign of an infestation, place a trap in the home to monitor the level of infestation. Continuous monitoring is extremely important when you have a moth infestation to check the degree of infestation.

Environmental Controls

What?

Clean clothes, vacuuming, tight fitting storage containers, extreme heat and freezing temperatures are all methods that can be used to control clothes moths.

How?

Take clothes to the dry cleaners to have the dirt and perspiration removed. Vacuum carpets, rugs, upholstery, baseboards and any other areas that may contain clothes moths. The lids of containers used to store clothing or fabric materials should fit very tightly so the tiny larvae cannot crawl inside.

Extreme heat can kill clothes moths if the temperature is high enough -- something that may be accomplished by washing clothes above 120 degrees F. Placing them in a hot attic for about 30 minutes can also work.

On the opposite end, freezing may also kill the clothing moth if the temperature is below 18 degrees F. Keep the material at that temperature for several days. Note: If you are freezing woolen materials, be sure to remove as much air from the plastic freezer bag as possible.

When?

Take clothes to the dry cleaners to have the dirt and perspiration removed when they become soiled or dirty. Vacuum carpets, rugs, upholstery, baseboards and any other areas on a regular basis, especially if you have noticed symptoms of an infestation.

When placing clothing and other materials in a container, carefully inspect the lid and the container -- the lid should fit very tightly so the tiny hatchlings cannot crawl inside - this should be done each time you are storing fabric materials, particularly woolen clothing and upholstery.

Extreme heat or freezing can be applied when you find larvae, eggs, or fecal matter on clothing or fabrics.

FAQs

Indoor Moth FAQs

Q: Why are moths attracted to my clothes stored in my closet?

A: Larvae of the clothes moths cause the damage, feasting on clothing, mostly wool and fur clothing. They may also target rugs and upholstered furniture. A female moth is attracted to clothing having food stains or perspiration. She lays eggs on the clothing. When the eggs hatch, the larvae feed on the fibers in the clothes.
