Safer® Brand Clothes Moth Alert Trap

Don't let moths dine on your best dinner jacket or your favorite dress!

Our clothes moth traps will alert you to moth problems and help to prevent moth damage.

The Safer® Brand Clothes Moth Alert Trap will lure adult moths using powerful pheromones and then trap them. Our clothes moth traps offer an economical and convenient natural pest control solution to moths damaging your furniture and clothing. Our clothes moth traps lasts up to 12 weeks as they trap adult moths, not larvae. Using our clothes moth traps gives you effective moth control.

We recommend using our clothes moth traps to attract the clothes moth and then Safer® Brand Flying Insect Killer which kills the clothes moth and other flying insects on contact. This is the perfect 1-2 combination to eliminate the harmful effects of the clothes moth.

Directions for Use:

  1. Hang clothes moth traps at eye level in closet and rooms to be protected. Pay special attention to items containing wool, cashmere, or other animal hair.
  2. Use one or two clothes moth traps for an average size room. Too many traps in one area may confuse the moth and make the trap appear to not work properly.
  3. Replace clothes moth traps after 12 weeks.

Safer® Brand is the leader in alternative pest control, lawn and garden products. Safer® Brand recognizes the growing demand by consumers for these products, offering a wide variety of natural and organic solutions for the home, lawn, garden, landscape, flowers, houseplants, insects and more!

Safer® Brand Clothes Moth Trap - 2 Traps is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 72.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Indicator This is the third time I have purchased the Safer clothes moth traps. They really do attract the moths, and although Safer warns that they are just to indicate that moths exist, in my case, because we have trapped so many, they definitely have decreased in numbers. In fact, I have not seen any indicators of their "work" in several months. Good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pinning Down Moth Problems I have a house full of oriental rugs. Once in a while I accidentallyintroduce clothes moths when I buy something new--especially by mail on Ebay. Once I see them flying around, I buy Safer traps to help me isolate outbreaks by room (then keeping doors closed) then treating the infected rugs--rather than every one of them, throughout my house. This allows me to enjoy my hobby, and continue collecting, without the fear that I may lose control over these very destructive pests. Thanks Safer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I had tried several things to get rid of moths, non of them worked, the only thing it did was to make my house smell bad. After purchasing the Moth Traps from your company, from the very first day, I have not seen a moth. I would recommend your product to anyone that has a problem with moths flying around. They are hung in my house and I know I will purchase more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works This is my second purchase of these traps. The first was in June of this year when the traps alerted me to the extent of my clothes moth problem. The traps allowed me to detect moths in places I would never have thought to look. Grateful to have found this product.

Still unclear on how to place lure in trap.  Can you try again to explain?  Instructions on package are too vague

Asked by: michelle
Remove the enclosed lure from its protective packet. Then, place the lure on the inside of the trap on the glue square. For further troubleshooting, please feel free to call us at 1-855-7-ORGANIC (1-855-767-4264).

I need more instructions on placing the lure

Asked by: Janit
To place the lure, position the trap so the pointed end of the trap is facing down. On the flat side of the trap, there will be a small round opening to drop the lure into. When dropping the lure into the opening, it will fall into the trap and land on the sticky surface inside.

What is the shelf life of the unused Safer clothes moth pack? If I use two, how long will the unopened ones be potent?

Asked by: Daga
These traps will last several years unopened.

Asked by: HARRIET
This product does not have an odor that humans can smell. The adult moths are attracted to the pheromone lure that is placed inside the trap. When the moths enter the trap, they will become stuck inside and unable to exit.

All About Insects the Clothes Moth Trap Controls

The clothes moth is only destructive during the larval stage. Clothing, upholstery, curtains and other furnishings may be ruined by the holes created when the larvae feed. In fact, just about anything made of natural fibers is potentially susceptible to damage by clothes moth larvae.

Natural & Organic Controls for Clothes Moths

Moth pheromone traps often called Clothes Moth Traps can help in controlling clothes moths.

Moth pheromone traps (clothes moth traps) can be used to alert you to moth problems and to monitor the level of infestation. Male meal moths are attracted to the pheromone and enter the trap where it is caught and cannot escape.

The trap should be placed in a clothes closet or area containing upholstery. Carefully read and follow all instructions completely for safe and effective use.

At the first sign of an infestation, place a trap in the home to monitor the level of infestation. Continuous monitoring is extremely important when you have a moth infestation to check the degree of infestation.

Why Choose a Natural Solution?

Natural solutions break down quickly to their natural elements. They are preferable to chemical pesticides that leave residuals where they are sprayed causing long-term detrimental effects on the environment.

Environmental Controls

Clean clothes, the vacuum, tight fitting storage containers, extreme heat, and freezing temperatures are all methods that can be used to control clothes moths.

Take clothes to the dry cleaners to have the dirt and perspiration removed. Vacuum carpets, rugs, upholstery, baseboards and any other areas that may contain clothes moths. The lids of containers used to store clothing or fabric materials should fit very tightly so the tiny hatchlings cannot crawl inside.

Extreme heat can kill clothes moths if the temperature is high enough -- something that may be accomplished by washing clothes above 120 degrees F. or placing them in a hot attic for about 30 minutes.

On the opposite end, freezing may also kill the clothing moth if the temperature is below 18 degrees F. and the material is kept at that temperature for several days. Note: If you are freezing woolen materials, be sure to remove as much air from the plastic freezer bag as possible.

Take clothes to the dry cleaners to have the dirt and perspiration removed when they become soiled or dirty. Vacuum carpets, rugs, upholstery, baseboards and any other areas on a regular basis, especially if you have noticed symptoms of an infestation.

When placing clothing and other materials in a container, carefully inspect the lid and the container -- the lid should fit very tightly so the tiny hatchlings cannot crawl inside - this should be done each time you are storing fabric materials, particularly woolen clothing and upholstery.

Extreme heat or freezing can be applied when you find larvae, eggs, or fecal matter on clothing or fabrics.

Indoor Moth FAQs

Q: Why are moths attracted to my clothes stored in my closet?

A: Larvae of the clothes moths cause the damage, feasting on clothing, mostly wool and fur clothing rugs, furniture. A female moth is attracted to clothing having food stains or perspiration. She lays eggs on the clothing. When the eggs hatch, the larvae feed on the fibers in the clothes.
