Details on how Diatomaceous Earth works to kill crawling insects.
Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is a dust-like product that contains the crushed fossilized algae (diatoms) from fresh water. These crushed diatoms feel like powder when we rub it in our hand. But it’s very sharp to insects with delicate exoskeletons. When you apply DE, dust is ingested by the crawling insect or the insect crosses through the powder. The DE will cut their exoskeleton. This causes the insect to dehydrate and die. Insects cannot develop a resistance to it since there are no chemicals to which they can build up immunity.
Organic Materials Review Institute OMRI Listed®
At Safer® Brand, we pride ourselves in offering you products that are compliant with organic gardening standards. Ant and Crawling Insect Killer is another product you can feel confident using in and around your home. Our Diatomaceous Earth is OMRI Listed® for organic use.
What type of Diatomaceous Earth is this?
Beware. Not all DE is the same. Our DE is made of Silicon Dioxide. This comes from a freshwater source. It is the same type that is used in food-grade diatomaceous earth. Other products made of Diatomite DE are made from unnatural sources.
Use DE to solve problems with crawling insects. Ants. Earwigs. Cockroaches. Silverfish. Crickets. Bedbugs. Centipedes and more.

Review RateIt helps but it isn\'t 100%We have been battling bedbugs and a flea problem for months. We tried everything and then I heard about this. I bought 3 bags since I wasn't sure how much I would need. It's been a few months now of using the safr brand and I have gone through one whole bag, and I still have both bedbugs and fleas. I don't know what to do anymore. I will say it did help the bedbugs from crawling into bed with me a bit but I still see about 5 randomly every night. I don't sleep at night anymore which I think is why I know how well exactly this product is working. The majority of people go to sleep so they don't see what's actually going on. It did decrease the problem yes but there is still a problem and honestly, I don't think it's helping with the fleas at all.Response From Safer Brand®Lauren : Consumer Relations RepresentativeHello Jenna,
This insect killing dust will work to kill insects that have ingested it in approximately 48 hours. When applying the product, we recommend lightly dusting areas where insect activity has been seen, such as cracks, crevices, around sinks and cabinets and other areas where insects travel.
To help eliminate bed bugs and fleas, we recommend dusting the product on the bedding areas and placing a sheet over the mattress. We apologize if the desired results have not been seen and would like to learn more about this experience.

Review RateA good solutionWe put diatomaceous earth all about our yard and window sills. Ants have stopped as have other crawlers. Thank you. It works.
Review Ratepatienceok, so i had a major bed bug infestation and when i finally caught on to it it seemed like all hope was lost. i tried everything and nothing really worked. i got safer brand d.e and soon as i applied it it seemed to do the trick, but i still kept seeing bed bugs and still bites but fewer...after a couple weeks i allmost gave up but decided to wait..i sprinkled the powder around all the walls and everything they could climb up, even sprinkled it between couch and sofa cousions and after about 6 weeks no more bites and no more bugs. it has been over 3 months now and still NO SIGN OF BED BUGS !! this stuff really worked !! thank you safer brands !!!
Review RateThank you! When my wife and I decided to carve our home out of the woods in the Upstate of SC, we expected insects and other pests to become a bigger part of our life. While we were prepared for spiders, ants, mice and the occasional snake, what we did not expect was SCORPIONS! Tiny little scorpions that sting like wasps and have an uncanny knack for finding there way into shoes and bedding. We tried EVERY commercially available insecticide and homemade remedy. Nothing worked. The creepy little bastards just kept on coming. Then we tried your Safer
Review RateSleeping againI am sitting here almost in tears (of joy). I bought the DE product you sell from Home Depot and last night was the FIRST night I have been able to sleep without being bitten in weeks. This Bed bug business has been a living NIGHTMARE. I called Orkin but they wanted $1300 that I did not have. So for less than $10 I got my Life and My Home back. THANK YOU Safer® Brand!!!!!
Review RateHoping it works.I actually read the reviews and seen some had bedbugs. I have them and its been 2 weeks or so of these nasty infestation. My kids have been getting bit just a little while my youngest has been ate up badly. I'm giving this a shot. I'm so sick of these things. I been killing them by hand and creating CO2 traps because I heard it works and for sure it does. With this organic DE I feel I will win this battle without the exterminator who btw is suppose to b over Thursday to inspect and give free evaluation. I hope this truly works. I'm fed up with these creatures attacking my kids so hopefully what is stated is true and with the powder on the floor like others have the pests will walk thru it and die. Thank u so much ill let u know if it truly works.
Review RateEffective, Fast, CheapAfter discovering BB I Purchased this product @ Home Depot. Honestly, it was the only brand available. There were four bags on the shelf, I bought three. I used the product immediately because these bed bugs were giving me the blues. I was paranoid, could not sleep and no matter what I did I would wake up with bites on my arm or legs.Living in an apartment complex be careful about "doing the right thing" and reporting it. That almost came back to bite me in the back side. My advice, use the product 1st, wait a week and see what happens. I sprinkled the floor, corners, mattress, closets and everything in between. The night I used it was the last time I was bitten. I have seen 3 live ones since then and it's been 2 weeks ago. The powder is still all over my floor and mattress and will remain there for another few months. (for my peace of mind) The complex wanted to spray my apartment with the toxins and I refused. They of course threatened to do it anyway and charge me for it! I stood my ground, showed the receipts for the Diatomaceous Earth and the literature that went along with it. Thank God I did not to succomb to the threats and decided to take this route instead of the toxic fumes in my humble abode. FYI, it is very important to wash all clothes, bedding, etc., in hot water and dry high heat. If not you are putting out the welcome mat for the dreaded bugs to return. The product is reasonably priced and worth every single penny. I read so many reviews...OMG! For every negative review there are 50 positive. Just try it. Trust me, there is light at the end of the tunnel. :)
Review RateAMAZINGI recently moved into a VERY old urban apartment building. Within the first few weeks I noticed a few roaches here and there and tried treating w/ conventional poisons / baits, etc. The landlord also sprayed monthly. This was bad enough, but then almost overnight, came the army of bedbugs and even more roaches.. OMG... It was like a horror movie. If you've had this type of infestation you know what a nightmare it is. Embarrassing bites, sleepless nights. I found this product through my internet research and saw the good reviews, so I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. I bought a bag at Home Depot last night and treated my little apartment. I know people have said that it can be slow to work, but that is not my experience. I sprinkled around all the baseboards and my bed and also my mattress. I don't think I got a single bite last night. I just got home this evening and I've only seen one very sick roach. I haven't felt this relaxed in months. I will definitely be sharing this wonderful product with my landlord. WOW. Just Wow.
