Directions for Use:
- Bend the flaps of the pointed end of the strips as shown. This will make it easier to insert the stake into the soil. Alternatively, you can hang the strips from the plant itself.
- Peel off the clear plastic sheets on either side of the plastic strip, exposing the adhesive.
- Place the strip into the soil at the base of the plant.
- To dispose of used strips, wrap in newspaper and dispose in the trash.

Review RateSticky StakesI have plants everywhere so I always keep a supply of these at home and at work. They are the best ever!!
Review RateThey stick like nothing else!I've been using these for about a month and have had great results. These sticky tabs catch EVERYTHING! I've caught a spider and a few files in addition to gnats. I used to be swatting them from my face when I read on my tablet in bed at night. Now there are maybe 2 a week. The tabs are easy to use and easy to dispose of. I've already ordered more for my kitchen plants and the ones at my office.
Review RateThese strips work really great!I thought the teeny flies were fruit flies...then I realized they came from my house plants. I appreciate a non-chemical solution to address this problem.
Review RateGreat ProductGnats really stick to it. I could't not do without the Safer Brand Houseplant Sticky Stakes.
Review RateGreat serviceGood price, prompt shipping.
Review RateWorks!Good product. Tad bit overpriced, there should be ten in the pkg, not seven. I usually purchase this brand when I am in need of the plastic sticks, ha. A competing brand uses wooden sticks & that's worthless to me. Monitor cards are better if you want more coverage than these offer. These are good for tight spaces.
Review RateWhere did they all come from?! Works beautifully!I raise Bonsai and fungus gnats are an absolute death sentence for fine feeder roots bonsai depend upon to thrive. Out of the blue, several of the younger bonsai (and some of my regular houseplants) started showing signs of distress and for the life of me, I couldn't find out what was causing the problem. There were no visible signs of disease on leaves or stems, but leaves were wilting and dropping at a steady rate.
Since I never had problems with fungus gnats (40+ years of experience), it wasn't until the weather warmed up that the problem became apparent. There were just a couple gnats at first and the problem intensified as the weather warmed up with more frequent watering.
I am extremely hesitant to use any chemical treatment of any sort on any of my plants. The only product I ever used, had to carry the Safer® Brand trademark. Because all my plants are in a very controlled environment (indoor greenhouse with fans, grow lights, etc...), I rarely have problems.
Well, I purchased 42 Sticky Stakes total and used 12 of them immediately. Overnight, the Sticky Stakes were literally covered and I certainly found the problem.
I also had to purchase Gnatrol WDG to kill off the fungus gnat larvae, which is a biological larvicide. I was almost terrified to use it, but when I saw the overwhelming amount of fungus gnats caught with the Sticky Stakes, it was either kill off the larvae or risk the destruction of bonsai and houseplant alike.
Thank goodness, the Gnatrol has not caused any damage to either bonsai or houseplant and used in conjunction with the Sticky Stakes, this was a good solution.
I lost 3 houseplants to fungus gnats and believe they were initially brought in with a mature greenhouse hanging oak ivy. I rarely buy mature plants and will likely never do so again after this incident.
The gnats are not completely gone (after 3+ weeks of treatment), but the Sticky Stakes are catching only an occasional gnat now and much better than the initial scenario.
Purchasing another lot of Sticky Stakes and thank you Safer!
Review RateGreat Product! If this were a swanky NY nightclub, it would be standing room only...... I don't know if you guys have an issue with those annoying tiny black winged terrors, but I have two plants that they love (and in turn fly in your face and annoy the dog). Well, I researched online and putting sand in the plants was super annoying when you water, but it's true, they can lay eggs and multiply in sand (but who wants to eat veggies/herbs with sand). Anyway, in another article, I found that those bugs are attracted to the color yellow, and then found these... so basically these Safer Stakes have saved me!!! I get them on ebay, but if you have the same problem, man do they work! Safer Sticky Stakes are THE BEST!
Review RateGreat productI use this product to rid my orchids of fungus gnats. It works great. Even at times when there is no infestation, I leave a stake with a clean sticky pad in the plant pot to alarm me when the pests are around again. As soon as I see one caught on the yellow pad I know it's time to treat the soil with a larvicide again.

Houseplant Pest Control - FAQs
Q: My plant leaves look chewed! Do you know what type of insect might do that?
A: Insects that have the ability to chew plants must have special cutters in their mouths for this purpose. Such insects may include caterpillars, beetles, and grasshoppers, for example.
Q: Can aphids or other insect pests spread viruses from one plant to another?
A: Yes, many insect pests can transmit a virus from one plant to another. Pumpkins, potatoes, lettuce, melons, cucumbers, beans and beets are just some of the vegetable plants that can be affected.
Q: How do I know if my plant is being attacked by an insect or a disease?
A: If it’s an insect, the plant may have holes in its leaves. Turn the leaves over and you may see the insects themselves clustered on the underside of the leaves. You may also see and feel a sticky substance if it’s an insect because the insect will leave a secretion on the plant.
Q: Is a spider mite an insect or is it actually a spider?
A: Spider mites belong to a class called arachnids, to which spiders also belong. They are not actually insects. To find out more about these tiny pests, see our information in All About Spider Mites.
