Apparently this is the replacement. While it does the job, we do not feel it kills as instantly as the mint spray did. It will bring the critter down, but then you do have to swat it quickly before it recovers to send it on to its Maker. Still this seems to be the best alternative to harsh chemicals on the market.Date published: 2016-05-19Rated 4 out of 5 by granny from I like the distance it shoots. I have beams that are 15 feet above and can spray the spiders, etrc. that lay their eggs up there. I like it. The smell is good. .I don't want to be put on a dozen or more e-mail lists.Date published: 2016-05-10Rated 5 out of 5 by TreePapa from Works as Advertised I used the "Victor" brand wasp spray years ago - bought it at a local store and it worked well. After a time, I could no longer find it, so I tried other brands of "natural" wasp spays and none of them were as effective. They usually killed some or all of the wasps, but not as well as Victor did and, very important when you are trying to kill things that can sting you, the stream was not a strong, so I had to get closer to the nest. So I GOOgled for Victor and found that, basically, the company's wasp spray is now marketed under Safer Brand. And it is reformulated. I ordered 3 cans because it's a much better deal than ordering one, and had the opportunity to use it on a few fairly "mature" wasp nests in our house and garage eaves shortly thereafter. It worked GREAT. It kills the wasps within minutes. They all drop away if you spray enough on them. And the stream is very strong. I could actually stand as far as I could get, given the location of the nests, and it sprayed in a strong, steady stream. I can't emphasise how important this is. The one thing I liked better about the old formula was the smell. It was mint based and the new formula is not. But it doesn't smell bad. I recommend Safer Brand Wasp & Hornet Killer, and I recommend you get the 3 can package. Because it is a better deal, and because you can go through a can fairly quickly if you have more than one or two nests. And I like always having extra on hand.Date published: 2015-10-04Rated 5 out of 5 by jo1984 from Reliable. I have been using Safer brand insecticidal soap for a couple of seasons, and I love it. It qualifies for organic gardening, and it is very effective against nematode squash bugs..something I appreciate. Based on that, I tried the Wasp and Hornet Killer. It sprayed about 12 feet, and demolished a small nest of paper wasps that had built their digs on the handle of my yardie. Very happy with the product. I bought three cans and have 2 left. Will buy again when those run out.Date published: 2015-09-24Rated 4 out of 5 by 4g8a from Protect your grand-kids I've been using this for a couple of years now. While it does not have the range or instant knock-down of the big name brands, I'm more comfortable using this rather than the nerve agents like Raid, etc. as I have grand-kids playing in the yard.Date published: 2015-08-15Rated 5 out of 5 by jazzebell 57 from Great Product We had a HUGE bald face hornets nest in our tree in the backyard. My outdoor porch was INFESTED with Wasps, all over the place. It kills them from a distance with a few shots, but up close it's one shot and they're done with. Really great product, shipped fast, awesome price, and I love that it's safe around plants and it's organic too. I prefer this product over Raid!Date published: 2015-07-10
My Rangoon Creeper has a wasp nest. Can I use the Safer wasp and hornet spray on it without killing the plant? I must move the plant into our greenhouse very soon.We would suggest spot testing before fully applying. For best results, apply when wasps are back at the nest (early morning or dusk).Date published: 2016-11-18

- All About
All About Wasps and Hornets Safer® Brand Wasp and Hornet Killer, Aerosol Controls
Wasps, yellow jackets and hornets can be found throughout North America in meadows, orchards, woodlands, playgrounds, cemeteries, and urban and suburban backyards. They vary in their nesting preferences. Although they all chew wood pulp to build their nests, yellow jackets generally locate their nests below the ground surface while hornets and other wasps build their large nests up in the trees. Giant hornets will also build their nests in attics or house walls.

- Control Options
Controlling Wasps and Hornets in Your Yard and Garden
Natural & Organic Controls
Yellow jacket/Wasp traps and wasp and hornet aerosols containing pyrethrin, d-limonene, palmarosa oil or mint oil appear to be the most effective control methods for these insects.
Pesticide-free traps contain food attractants instead of harmful chemicals. These traps should be placed along the borders of your lawn. When checking on them, be very careful not to get stung. Carefully read and follow all instructions completely for safe and effective trap usage.A non-poisonous aerosol spray that contains mint oil can be a very effective instant spot control product - and it has a pleasant mint scent!
Pyrethrin, d-limonene, and/or palmarosa oil sprays can also be used for instant spot control. In addition, they can be used to drench the nestor hive.
If you are attempting to spray a nest of wasps, be sure to wear a bee veil and very protective clothing which is closed at the cuff of pants and sleeves as well as the collar and belt areas so wasps cannot crawl under your clothes and sting you.
Spray from approximately 10-15 feet away or as far away as you can manage based on the position of the nest. Spray with the wind at your back. Carefully read and follow all instructions completely for safe and effective application.
Once a trap is set up, it will take about 24 hours to fully lure wasps & yellow jackets, so plan ahead if you're having a backyard party or outdoor event.
When treating a full nest, spray aerosol solutions after dusk or before dawn since these insects are dormant at night.
Why Choose a Natural Solution?
Natural solutions break down quickly to their natural elements. They are preferable to chemical pesticides that leave residuals where they are sprayed causing long-term detrimental effects on the environment.
Birds and other insects eat wasps and hornets, helping to control their populations.
Birds that eat both insects and birdseed may be able to be attracted to your yard through the use of birdfeeders.
Place bird feeders in the yard at anytime throughout the year, although the main time for attracting birds in hopes they will also go after the wasps and hornets would be during the late spring and summer when these insects emerge and are active.
Secured window screens and doors, tightly lidded garbage cans, and well-maintained orchards are all important in controlling wasps, whether they are yellow jackets, hornets or other types of wasps. Cold weather is a natural environmental control in itself, killing off the colony and possibly even the queen.
Check window screens and doors to make sure they are secure so wasps will not be able to invade your home. Once inside the home, they can enter the walls or attic and either overwinter or build their nests depending on the time of year.
Garbage cans without lids firmly attached can be a huge source of attraction for yellow jackets. Make sure that your garbage cans are firmly covered.
Remove any fruits that have fallen from your fruit trees, being very careful not to step in or disturb any yellow jacket nests in the ground.
Check windows, screens and doors in the spring and fall to check for nests or for overwintering female wasps. Every time you open and close your garbage can, make sure you have placed the lid on the can very firmly.
Pick up fruit when you find it on the ground under your fruit trees in your yard or orchard.
