Concern® Weed Prevention Plus® for Gardens Weeds can ruin a garden in a variety of ways. The key is to apply it three times a year (spring when the daffodils are blooming, early summer, and fall) and to be diligent about it. If you apply it once, then, no, you're not going to get the best results. Do not, as another reviewer did, apply weed cloth and mulch over it. You're just wasting your money on weed cloth and on the pre-emergent. Weed cloth does not allow the soil to "breathe" properly and by that I mean, exchange oxygen and water as well as possible. Since it is a barrier to both natural decomposition as well as earthworms, it does not allow organic material such as mulch, leaves, and plant debris to get worked into the soil and enrich it.
Back to the Concern Weed Prevention, not only does it work, it is also safe to use around pets, people, and wildlife and will not contaminate bodies of water by run-off. It has the additional benefit of being a mild fertilizer since it also is a natural, slow-release form of nitrogen.

Corn Gluten meal - when used properly - WORKS. Plain and simply put. Keep in mind that this stuff is not about "getting rid of weeds" but rather it's a pre-emergent. In other words, it prevents weeds, doesn't kill them off.
The key is to time it properly. I put it down in the middle of March (in New Jersey/Mid Atlantic US) and then again about 60 days later. You can do it again in the fall if you can spare the $$. But to claim that this "doesn't work" like some of the other reviewers here is not really fair or accurate.
You don't have to poison yourself, neighbors, or the planet to have a "green" lawn. Give it try.
