Preparing Seedlings for Hydroponics

Once at the seedling stage, your plant can be readied for your hydroponic setting. Their early, delicate roots and stems will thrive well in rockwool or grow cubes. From there, you should provide the proper nutrients, water and sunlight so they develop into their vegetative stage, at which point they’ll begin to take on their mature appearance.

Preparing Clones for Hydroponics

While cloning plants, insert cuttings into cloning gel and then into presoaked, moist rockwool or grow cubes. Cloned plants will generally thrive in high humidity, warm temperatures and standard pH. As it establishes roots, provide proper nutrients in the form of hydro-friendly fertilizer, water and light to fuel it into the next stage of growth.

Transfer to Hydroponic System

With the seedling or clone firmly established, you can move it fully to your hydroponic system. Supply it with a more structured growing medium, such as pea gravel, where roots can continue to develop. Finally, add appropriate hydroponic fertilizers and grow nutrients to continue to feed its growth.
