When we moved into our house 12 years ago, we had trouble with palmetto bugs (those huge roaches) along with various other nasty creepy-crawlers. I also have dogs and cats, with a dog door leading to my wooded back yard.
For a few years we paid a pest control company to come spray every 3 months. We could always tell when the 3 months were up because we would start seeing bugs again.
Finances changed, we had to cut back on some things, so we dropped the pest control service. I went to Saferbrand.com and bought a few things, including Diatomaceous earth. I spent maybe $35.
My husband cleared out around the perimeter of the house, and poured the DE in a thin layer. That was 6 years ago, and we have rarely seen bugs since (we have reapplied the DE twice since then.) Another nice thing - we don't have fleas!

I really don't know how or when it happenend, but I awoke one fine day to find my lush garden completely over run by Earwigs! I used a flashlight for 2 nights and hand picked them. Not even a dent did I create. That's when I found Safer brand Diatomaceous Earth at the local D&B Hardware store. I sprinkled it everywhere, on the ground, after cleaning all plant debris away. That night, I went out with a flash light and looked and looked and looked but I could not find one Earwig! What concerned me was that I couldn't find one dead one. Well, the next morning I went out to investigate. I started to poke around here and there and when I lifted some cabbage leaves, Lo And Behold, earwigs by the tens and twentys on higher ground and hanging on for dear life! They would not walk over the Diatomaceous Earth! I got my shop vac and went to sucking them up by the hundreds! Now, I only see one or two Earwigs here or there walking around "Dazed And Confused." I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! GOOD STUFF!!!!! THANK YOU!
