Q: How can the products be Poison-Free and still kill insects?
A: The products are made from ingredients which clogs the insects spiracles (breathing holes) and over-stimulates their nervous system resulting in death.
Q: What are the active ingredients of your Poison-Free aerosols?
A: Active ingredients by wt.: D-Limonene 1.000%, Pyrethrins 0.050%, Potassium Salts of Fatty Acids 1.000%, Other ingredients 97.950%.
Q: How effective are Victor® Poison-Free® aerosols?
A: Victor® Poison-Free® aerosols kill bugs in seconds.
Q: How long will the products remain effective? A: The residual kill is strongest within the first week, but Victor® Poison-Free® aerosols will continue to kill insects for up to 4 weeks. Since the products are food ingredients, they are environmentally friendly and biodegradable unlike solvent-based, toxic aerosols.
Q: Are the products EPA registered?
A: No. They are exempt from registration under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticidel Act (25B). The 25B act was passed by FIFRA to encourage the sale and distribution of non-toxic pesticides.
Q: What does the green cross symbol mean?
A: It is an environmental certification label granted by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). SCS is a nationally-recognized organization providing independent testing and certification of environmental claims. This certification gives consumers verification that the products are safe to use. Q: I have flying aphids on my garden plants. Will your Poison-Free® aerosol hurt the plants?
A: Although completely non-toxic, the Poison-Free® Flying Insect Killer is not to be used on plants as the mint oil ingredient will burn the leaves.
Better products would be Safer® Brand's Sticky Whitefly Trap or Insect Killing Soap. Learn more about controlling aphids by reading this article titled "How To Control Whiteflies and Aphids." Q: When I spray Poison-Free® aerosols on my kitchen counters, do I need to clean the counters before preparing a meal?
A: The active ingredient in our Victor Poison-Free® sprays is food-grade mint oil extract. There is no need to wipe it up. Excess residue can be removed with rag dipped in warm soapy water. Q: What if my pet licks it off his or her feet?
A: Our Victor Poison-Free® aerosols are completely safe. Your pet will not be harmed, but he or she will have minty fresh breath! Q: My Poison-Free® Aerosol does not spray well. What can I do?
A: Be sure to shake the can upside down for at least 15 seconds.
All cans should spray in the form of a mist except the Wasp & Hornet Spray Model M604. This should come out in a powerful stream. If you have a can of another variety that seems to malfunction, and you live within the United States please call our Customer Care at 1-800-1800-1819 ext. 450. We will replace the can for you.
Q: I was told that your hornet/wasp spray could be used to kill roaches. Is that true?
A: The formulation of the Poison-Free® Wasp & Hornet Spray is very close to that of the Poison-Free® Ant & Roach Spray. Both formulations contain the same ingredients that will kill roaches.
The main reason why you DON'T want to use the Wasp & Hornet Spray for this is that the can is designed to dispense a high pressure stream about 15 feet. That's useful when you're on the ground and spraying a hornet nest up in the air at a distance. Used indoors, this intense stream would certainly splatter the spray all over your house, as well blowing literally blowing the roaches away.
The Ant & Roach spray comes out in a gentle, foaming mist which is necessary in applying a lethal coating uniformly over the body of the roach.
Q: Do you have any products for elimination of carpet beetles?
A: Unfortunately, we don't offer any carpet-beetle solutions at this time. I recommend reading http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/PESTNOTES/pn7436.aspl for more information about carpet beetles.
Q: Do your aerosol products contain CFCs?
A: No.
Q: Do any of your Poison-Free® products kill lice?
A: No, nor are they intended to be sprayed on people.
Q: How do I get rid of carpenter bees?
A: Seal up the holes they use to gain access. Sometimes painting the area will help deter them.
You may want to consult an exterminator if the infestation is severe. I recommend searching Safety Source for Pest Management to find a pest control operator who uses least toxic methods.
Q: Are Victor Poison-Free® aerosols safe around ponds, and safe for frogs and fish?
A: These products are completely safe to use in this type of environment. Mint oil is the active ingredient. It is completely natural, and non-toxic.
Q: Is the spray safe to use around cats? Also, must I spray it directly on insects for it to be effective?
A: You do need to spray it directly on the target insects to be effective. It is safe around pets, but I would try to avoid spraying it directly near them if possible. The scent might be too strong for them.
Q: Are your Poison-Free® sprays safe for pregnant women?
A: Our Poison-Free® sprays are absolutely safe for pregnant women, children, and animals. Victor Poison-Free® spray has a very strong mint scent that some find pleasant, while others feel it's too strong. Simply open the windows a little of the scent is too much. The sprays are 100% non-poisonous and safe.
Q: Is your spray safe even if it is ingested by children?
A: Absolutely. Our sprays are Poison-Free®, which means no poisons at all.

Q: How do your Fly Traps compare in efficacy to one another and to an ultraviolet trap?
A: For outdoor use for flies, the fly trap is definitely the best. If by ultraviolet, you mean bug zappers, they are ok, but attract a lot of other insects that are otherwise not a problem. The Victor Fly Magnet® is specific to house flies and several other species of nuisance flies (Blue bottle, Blow fly).
Q: What is the fly bait made of and is the odor offensive?
A: The bait formulation is proprietary, but consists mostly of food grade ingredients, to be more specific (proteins). The odor is not as strong if the trap is placed in an area with a lot of air circulation. The important thing is that the flies love it!
Q: Do you carry ultraviolet light bug zappers and, if so, how much does one cost?
A: We have an Electronic Fly Killer that uses ultraviolet light to lure the flying insect into the trap. The light does not actually kill the insect. The insect becomes trapped inside. It is very effective. You can purchase the Electronic Fly Killer in our online store.
Q: What do you recommend for indoor use and why? A: I recommend Victor® Fly Tape, or Victor® Fly Strip for use indoor. This will attract and trap flies very effectively, and without the odor. Visit our Fly Solutions page.
Q: Do you do any repellents for clothes moths?

Q: How can we get rid of fungus gnats inside? Could they be coming from the plants we have inside?
A: The fungus gnats are coming from the soil of the plants.
You can spray the flying insects with house plant insect killer or use Safer® Brand Insect Killing Soap Concentrate. The Insect Killing Soap Concentrate label should have directions for treating the soil of plants as a soil drench. If it is not on the label, the directions are mix 1 tablespoon per quart of water and drench the soil.

Q: Will your Fly Trap and/or Fly Magnet® bait work for fruit flies?
A: Our Fly Traps will certainly work for fruit flies. The Fly Magnet® bait, however, was not designed to draw fruit flies. Instead, put a small amount of beer inside the trap and place in a cube of bread to serve as bait. Chucks of fruit in water also work well for drawing fruit flies to the trap. Q: How do I remove the "sticky stuff" that came from a pull-out fly catcher from the skin?
A: Apply vegetable oil to the area. Within a few minutes, the oil will begin to dissolve the glue. Re-apply oil as needed until all the glue is dissolved. Remove oily residue with warm soapy water.
Q: How are migthone fly species different from other species?
A: There are many species of fly. I recommend you visit our fly species page on Saferbrand.com. There we have a description of common fly species.
Q: How can I get rid of pantry moths? What product should be used at each stage in the lifecycle. Also, how frequently should I use the product?

Q: I have a mullberry tree in my yard, very close to my home. The flies become unbearable. Please give me some much needed advise on getting rid of these pesky flies?
A: I highly recommend using the Victor® bottle traps. By hanging them outside in the tree, you will have great success in controlling the fly population. Q: How can I get rid of lots of flies around my house?
