Don't let moths dine on your best dinner jacket or your favorite dress!

Our clothes moth traps will alert you to moth problems and help to prevent moth damage.

The Safer® Brand Clothes Moth Alert Trap will lure adult moths using powerful pheromones and then trap them. Our clothes moth traps offer an economical and convenient pest control solution to moths damaging your furniture and clothing. Our clothes moth traps lasts up to 12 weeks as they trap adult moths. By trapping adult moths, you will break the breeding cycle in your home and deliver the moth control you need.

We recommend using our clothes moth traps to attract the clothes moth and then Safer® Brand Flying Insect Killer which kills the clothes moth and other flying insects on contact. This is the perfect 1-2 combination to eliminate the harmful effects of the clothes moth.

Directions for Use:

  1. Hang clothes moth traps at eye level in closet and rooms to be protected. Pay special attention to items containing wool, cashmere or other animal hair.
  2. Use one or two clothes moth traps for an average size room. Too many traps in one area may confuse the moth and make the trap appear to not work properly.
  3. Replace clothes moth traps after 12 weeks.

Good product but By Lin

I’ve been using these traps and they do lure moths in. Your instructions say to hang them at eye level but there is no obvious way to hang them. I also don’t understand why it is necessary to push the lure through the slot rather than just dropping it in the hole or hand placing it onto the glue surface. The box says to remove adhesive release paper for additional placement options. I have no idea what you mean I should do to find these options

We are so happy to hear about the success you have had using these traps. Any type of string can be used to hang them. And you are correct, the lure can simply be dropped in the hole or placed on the glue surface, after the protective paper is peeled off. Please contact us at 1-855-7-ORGANIC (1-855-767-4264) if there are any questions.

So far . Nothing By Tom

Terrible direction on the box. Put a video showing and explaining how to set up these traps. What upside down. What the little square is suppose to be placed. I set my 2 trap yesterday, thinking the moths would be attracted. and the next day. Not one.

Hello Tom,

We appreciate this feedback regarding the instructions and the use of the trap.

When setting up the trap, the lure should be removed from the protective packaging and placed onto the glue surface. Once that is done, the trap can be placed in your closet or where you are seeing moth activity and the male moths will be attracted to the trap.

Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-7-ORGANIC (1-855-767-4264). We want to ensure that you are satisfied with your purchase and look forward to offering further assistance.

These clothes moth traps work! I have been buying the sixteen pack several times a year and distribute all sixteen around the house all at once. After three months most of the traps are filled with 5-10 dead moths. Highly recommended.

Hard to set up trap with weak instructions By None

Moths aren't out to be catching but getting prepared for when they are. Setting up the trap wasn't easy, directions weren't clear . More descriptive words would help.

The product does not work. By Lemur

I'm very sorry to say that the so-called "moth traps" did not catch a single moth. I continued to see at least one or two moths flutter by each day, but none were attracted to the trap, whereas a few years ago I used a different brand of moth trap that was extremely effective.

Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

We apologize for this experience. For the best results, we recommend hanging the traps at eye level in the closets and rooms to be protected. Special attention should be given to items containing wool, cashmere or other animal hair.

This product is covered by a 30 day return policy and a one year warranty with a copy of the purchase receipt. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-7-ORGANIC (1-855-767-4264) with any questions or for additional assistance.

Safe for my pets By Cindy

I had avoided moth balls since I have sensitive cats so all wool and cashmere garments were destroyed. The Safer brand has done the trick saving my carpets, sweaters and other woolens. Thank you!

All About Insects the Clothes Moth Trap Controls

The clothes moth is only destructive during the larval stage. Clothing, upholstery, curtains and other furnishings may be ruined by the holes created when the larvae feed. In fact, just about anything made of natural fibers is potentially susceptible to damage by clothes moth larvae.

Control Options for Clothes Moths from Safer® Brand

Controls for Clothes Moths

Moth pheromone traps often called Clothes Moth Traps can help in controlling clothes moths.

Moth pheromone traps (clothes moth traps) can be used to alert you to moth problems and to monitor the level of infestation. Male meal moths are attracted to the pheromone and enter the trap where it is caught and cannot escape.

The trap should be placed in a clothes closet or area containing upholstery. Carefully read and follow all instructions completely for safe and effective use.

At the first sign of an infestation, place a trap in the home to monitor the level of infestation. Continuous monitoring is extremely important when you have a moth infestation to check the degree of infestation.

Environmental Controls

Clean clothes, vacuuming, tight fitting storage containers, extreme heat and freezing temperatures are all methods that can be used to control clothes moths.

Take clothes to the dry cleaners to have the dirt and perspiration removed. Vacuum carpets, rugs, upholstery, baseboards and any other areas that may contain clothes moths. The lids of containers used to store clothing or fabric materials should fit very tightly so the tiny larvae cannot crawl inside.

Extreme heat can kill clothes moths if the temperature is high enough -- something that may be accomplished by washing clothes above 120 degrees F. Placing them in a hot attic for about 30 minutes can also work.

On the opposite end, freezing may also kill the clothing moth if the temperature is below 18 degrees F. Keep the material at that temperature for several days. Note: If you are freezing woolen materials, be sure to remove as much air from the plastic freezer bag as possible.

Take clothes to the dry cleaners to have the dirt and perspiration removed when they become soiled or dirty. Vacuum carpets, rugs, upholstery, baseboards and any other areas on a regular basis, especially if you have noticed symptoms of an infestation.

When placing clothing and other materials in a container, carefully inspect the lid and the container -- the lid should fit very tightly so the tiny hatchlings cannot crawl inside - this should be done each time you are storing fabric materials, particularly woolen clothing and upholstery.

Extreme heat or freezing can be applied when you find larvae, eggs, or fecal matter on clothing or fabrics.

Indoor Moth FAQs

Q: Why are moths attracted to my clothes stored in my closet?

A: Larvae of the clothes moths cause the damage, feasting on clothing, mostly wool and fur clothing. They may also target rugs and upholstered furniture. A female moth is attracted to clothing having food stains or perspiration. She lays eggs on the clothing. When the eggs hatch, the larvae feed on the fibers in the clothes.
