Seeing conflicting info. Is this safe around pets and children? Precious answer says “when used as directed.” So if it’s sprinkled on the baseboards, as directed, it’s safe if my cat goes and smells it? But the label says “hazard to humans and animals.” So what is it?

Thank you very much for contacting us.
We understand your concern, and we’re happy to clarify. This product is safe to use around pets and children when applied as directed, such as along baseboards or other targeted areas. However, it is important that children and pets do not come into direct contact with the product, especially before it has settled, as stated on the label.
The label includes a “hazard to humans and animals” warning as a standard precaution to prevent accidental ingestion or prolonged exposure.
If your pet has ingested the product or is showing signs of exposure, we strongly recommend taking them to a veterinarian immediately.
It would be our pleasure to assist you further if needed.

I understand that Safer Home DE Ant and Crawling Insect Killer is not recommended for use in vegetable gardens because it becomes ineffective when wet and will then need to be reapplied. I have no problem reapplying it, in fact I’ve been using it in solution with neem oil, effective microbes, liquid fish and water to spray on my fruit trees and I reapply after a heavy rain. I spray the entire tree including the leaves, the trunk and branches and the small apples, cherries and pears because not only is your DE very effective at controlling insects, but it can also be washed off the fruit after harvest and before eating.
Should I stop putting DE in my homemade insecticide even if it can be washed off before eating the fruit?

Hi, thank you for reaching us. We don't recommend the use of the product directly on fruits or vegetables.
Answer by: Guillermo (Admin) on May 28, 2025, 9:02 AM
My cats have fleas. I'm treating them with a topical, but there are also fleas in the house. Will this powder be effective if sprinkled on rugs and then vacuumed up, since it's not recommended to let pets come in contact with it? These are indoor cats. I can't separate them from the rugs and furniture.
Question by: Debbie on Jun 6, 2025, 12:29 PM
It can help control fleas on rugs, but pets should not be in contact with the powder. Apply, leave for 24–48 hours, then vacuum thoroughly before allowing pets back.
Answer by: Brandon (Admin) on Jun 6, 2025, 4:43 PM
Hello how long do you leave the powder around the baseboards etc before you vacuum it up?
