The sticky paper should be changed when it is full or when it is no longer sticky from dust or other debris.

Harmful to pets? My Cat got on plant table, had a "sticky pad" stuck to her fur, and we observed bite marks in it. She hasn't eaten since then! (incident occurred 11/29/24)

Since the world is overflowing with plastic, why don’t you sell sticky paper refills without the stakes separately? I use a package of sticky paper about every 2 weeks and don’t appreciate having to throw out the stakes each time. Your website description says the stakes are stackable for desired length. Wish I had known that sooner as it’s not on the package directions. Will the replacement cards for the fruit fly trap work with the stakes as those can be purchased separately?
